Tau Kappa Zeta named

"Most Distinguished Chapter"

in the Southern Region.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, held its 81st Southern Regional Executive Board Meeting and Youth Retreat in Dallas, TX June 10-11, 2010.

The sorority’s southern region is composed of graduate and undergraduate chapters in the states of Louisiana and Texas. During the board meeting’s award ceremony, Tau Kappa Zeta Graduate chapter of Slidell was named the Most Distinguished Chapter in the Southern Region. The decision is based upon commitment to the principles of the sorority, Scholarship, Service, Sisterly love and Finer Womanhood.

Tau Kappa Zeta has committed to these principles in the St. Tammany Parish area by providing scholarships to area high school students, sponsoring free workshops that focus on the mind, body and spirit, registering new voters and sponsoring an annual school supply give away. The chapter has also participated in the Keep Slidell Beautiful campaign by adopting a street in Old Town Slidell, annual commitments to March of Dimes and Relay for Life, sponsoring youth and adult auxiliary groups (Zeta Amicae of Slidell), annual Founder’s Day Sisterly Luncheons, and always putting Finer Womanhood first.

Tau Kappa Zeta President, April Thompson-Ocaña says of the award “that it is wonderful to be acknowledged by our sisters of the region and it is our continued goal to provide exemplary service to our sisterhood through dedication to our chapter, our activities and our community.”
